The experience

Learn by building something real.

RoboRams gives high school students the opportunity to take on complex engineering challenges while working as part of a student-led team. Members contribute across mechanical design, fabrication, electrical systems, programming, strategy, media, outreach, and team operations.

Students learn through designing, building, programming, testing, communicating, documenting, and improving their work throughout the season.

More than competition

Students build skills that go far beyond the robot.

01

Design

Students turn ideas into solutions through planning, prototyping, CAD, testing, and iteration.

02

Build

Teams learn how individual mechanical, electrical, and software systems come together into a complete robot.

03

Program

Students use software, sensors, automation, and control systems to bring the robot to life.

04

Lead

Communication, teamwork, project management, outreach, and leadership are part of every successful robotics program.

Program highlights

What makes First Robotics Competition different.

Full-scale engineering

Students design and build a large competition robot using real engineering processes including CAD, prototyping, fabrication, electronics, testing, and iteration.

Advanced programming

Programming students develop robot software, autonomous routines, sensors, vision systems, driver controls, and other software that brings the robot to life.

Student leadership

Students take ownership of technical work, project planning, strategy, communication, outreach, documentation, and team operations.

Season

When we build

The FRC BIOCORE season kick-off is January 9, 2027 and continues through the build and competition season which concludes in May with the World Championships.

Meetings

Where the team works

New high school members (including FTC alum) are being welcomed Thursday, October 29 from 3-5pm at North Campus Robotics room. The last date to join for the 26-27 season is Noveber 30, 2026.

Joining

Become part of the team

Holt high school students interested in engineering, programming, fabrication, electronics, business, media, strategy, or leadership can find a place on RoboRams. Prior robotics experience is not required; however, the cutoff to join the 26-27 BIOCORE season is November 30, 2026.
